A hearty congratulations to our Ride for Heart Corporate Team! Its 50 participants raised over $13,000 for the Heart and Stroke Foundation this year.

Each year, more than 66,000 Canadians die from heart disease and stroke – that’s one every seven minutes. Fortress’s team helped raise funds to support researchers across Canada working on breakthrough treatments to save lives and improve survivor recovery.

The SCHC Food Bank is among the busiest programs of its kind in Scarborough. Individuals and families experiencing food insecurity are empowered and provided access to food support from the weekly program. To support these families, the Fortress team collected and donated food and other high-demand items to the Scarborough Centre for Healthy Communities.

Ride to Conquer Cancer

Fortress supported Andrew Frei, Steve Gidman, Pierre DiGirolamo, Dominic Locas, and Phil Brown in the “Ride to Conquer Cancer.”

The team cycled over 200km from Toronto to Niagara Falls with thousands of other riders helping raise funds to conquer cancer. All proceeds were donated to The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre to support cancer research, treatment, and services. The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre is Canada’s leading comprehensive institution devoted to cancer research and care.

Heart & Stroke Foundation Big Bike

Employees have ridden on the Heart & Stroke Foundation’s 29-seat Big Bike since 2007, raising over $17,000 to provide funding for heart disease and stroke research.
